In America, it is sport that is the opiate of the masses.

The Ambridge "Cubs" were organized by the brothers John, Charles, and Henry Goerman. They were the sons of the publisher of an early Ambridge newspaper, "The News-Herald." They shared the field at Eleventh and Merchant Streets with a number of independent and factory sponsored baseball teams and a football team called "Ambridge Tech." The team is pictured on the steps of the municipal building which was opened in May 1910, otherwise, the date of the photo is unknown. |
