AMBRIDGE REPRISE
Every man has a lurking wish to appear

Grapes of Wrath, Steeltown Style

First Street 1 These multifamily dwellings were found along 1st Street at the southern edge of the town. The outsides defy description but the insides were home.
First Street 2.

By the time I reached high school, these buildings were so over used that they were generally unfit for habitation. No longer workers' housing, they were "our slums".

I only knew one person who lived there. He was a fellow high school student with some boxing ability. He fought preliminaries at four dollars a bout (win or lose) and knew he would never see a main event. He lived with an uncle who picked glass for a living and would help after school.
