AMBRIDGE REPRISE
Rivers are roads which move,
and which carry us wither we desire to go.

LST 662

Ready for the Water

Ready LST-662, was launched in Ambridge in April, 1944. She took part in Western Pacific amphibious operations at Palaus, Subic Bay, and Okinawa during World War II.

The Sponsor

Miss Louise Leahy sponsored the vessel and broke the traditional bottle of champagne during launching ceremomies (Jim Marshall corrects the name of the bottle wielder to Amelia Louise Lusic, his aunt. He also unmasks Irene Lusic, his mother, as the second woman in the picture.).
